L20020 Steady State Flow Computation Manual for Natural Gas Transmission Lines
The goals of this project were to continue to evaluate available knowledge on the flow behavior of gas in transmission systems and develop a simple, flexible equation form for use in calculations, without sacrificing accuracy. This manual presents definitions and instructions for determining the type of flow (fully turbulent or partially turbulent) and instructions for flow calculations for both flow types. The procedures and recommendations in this manual are limited to calculations on gas transmission and gathering lines in which entrance losses and kinetic energy changes are negligible. The calculation procedures relate to steady state flow of either the fully turbulent or partially turbulent types and apply only to the solution of conventional pipeline flow problems.
