L51447 Stress Measurement in Buried Gas Pipelines by Ultrasonic Techniques

The research described in this report was aimed at developing a technique for measuring the distribution of bending stress in a buried pipeline from a pig-type of vehicle moving with the gas in the line. An approach based on measuring the small shift in velocity of ultrasonic waves caused by the presence of stress was used.
