In the laboratory treatment. the pipe sections were flattened, annealed, and then machined into tensile blanks, which then were strained fixed amounts and aged before they were machined into the final specimen shape. Most of the specimens were strained 2.0 percent and aged at 300 F for 0.5 hours, which is the treatment that was finally selected for future work.
