PR-261-093601-R01 Evaluation of the Current Understanding of External MIC and Gap Analysis.
This report provides an assessment of needs and opportunities ("gaps") to improve the identification and management of external microbially influenced corrosion (MIC) on pipelines. Recommendations in this report are based on an extensive review of the state of the art which has been circulated previously for comments by the PRCI Project Team and an industry survey with willing survey participants that was followed up by telephone interviews. The final list of gaps identified is as follows, which is organized under Goals that represent the anticipated benefit to be achieved. In each case an introductory sentence provides some context for the gaps that appear as bullets under each Goal. This list of gaps is offered for discussion within the PRCI community for validation, prioritization and development of appropriate action plans where warranted.
