PR-387-11200-R01 All-Weld-Metal Strip Tensile Testing of Narrow Groove Pipeline Girth Welds

The pipeline community needs to measure all-weld metal properties of narrow gap pipeline girth welds consistently and reliably. These measurements support characterization of material properties required for design and engineering assessment of pipelines, and provide input data for further in-depth studies and fracture toughness testing. Among many existing tensile test standards/codes, the AWS B4.0-Annex D: Recommended practice for all-weld-metal tensile testing of narrow groove pipeline girth welds is the only standard available at this point for the all-weld metal tensile tests sampling a significant proportion of weld metal, specifically for narrow groove girth welds.
