PR-680-183907-R01 Use of Aerial LiDAR Data Collection for Geohazards

$3,500.00

LiDAR is an extremely capable technology. These datasets are large and have historically required significant manpower to analyze. The technology is also complex and operators have questions on how to effectively deploy it. New technologies including artificial intelligence, machine vision and large-scale cloud computing provide the opportunity for operational use of aerial LiDAR data collection for geohazard assessment.

Enview performed analytics to create a sub-centimeter accurate 3D model of the entire system and identify anomalies/areas of interest on recently collected airborne LiDAR and high-res orthoimagery a gas transmission pipeline network.

The goals of this project were are to: (1) share lessons on how to operationalize LiDAR; (2) provide operators with clear guidance how to deploy LiDAR to measure topographic changes near ROW; and (3) provide guidance on how to balance data quality with cost-effectiveness.
